Overview Video

6 editions of Bossa and game overview

Game Overview

A two player game with dice and tiles.

Decide each player’s dice color, then according to the dice pips’ color and number place corresponding tiles alongside their dice.

Utilizing 3 action tiles, avoid being backed into a corner and play your tiles. One more or one less tile only can be placed alongside previously place tiles.

The player who uses all the tiles in their hand or has 6 rows of tiles on their own color line takes the win.

Bossa has two set of rules: the “Regular Rules” and the “Novice Rules” for beginners.

Game Play (Regular Rules)

Roll the die to start

Each player starts with 4 dot tiles and 1 of each of the 3 types of action cards and rolls one dice
The player with the higher roll has the choice of “designating their own color line (white or black)” or “taking the first play”.

The starting point of the white and black lines is the number of dice rolls

The corresponding dice color is placed in front of each player and becomes the starting point for the black or white line respectively.
Each player then places a tile or tiles next to an ascending or descending position. (Tiles can be placed on either your own or the opponent’s line.)

Draw a tile from the pile and play from your hand

On your turn, you draw a tile from the pile, combine the tiles in your hand, and place it on either the white or black line.
You can also use one of the three types of action cards.

Tiles can be used in combination

The dots on the tiles are used counting only the color of either white or black. Multiple tiles can be combined. In the photo, two tiles are used to make “White 5” (White 3 + White 2 = White 5).
*When placing tiles only one more or one less than previously placed tiles may be placed. The “White 6” following the example in the photo must be placed with one or three tiles, not two.

3 types of actions for offense, defense, and avoiding a deadlock

Utilize the three types of action cards “Redraw” (from the pile), “Exchange” (with the opponent), and “Stack” (on a tile or tiles already in play) tactically to avoid being backed into a corner and play your tiles.

Seize victory!

Players alternate turns and the player who uses all the tiles in their hand or has 6 rows of tiles on their own color line takes the win. If a player cannot make a move, that player loses.
Luck of the draw is also a factor in victory!

Advantages of STANDARD edition

Tile comparison of Bossa editions

The STANDARD edition is the most compact of Bossa’s six editions.

Compact and casual

The size of the box is only 3.4(w)x 3.4(h) x 1.1(d) inches / 87(w) x 87(h) x 28(d) mm. Easy to carry! You can take Bossa with you wherever you go.

Play at different places!

Play time is short, only 5 to 10 minutes per game, so it can be enjoyed casually. For example, on a table in a cafeteria during lunch or break time, or on a counter in a bar or pub after work.

Easier to handle

For handling and durability, the face side of the STANDARD edition dot tiles are finished with a gloss-coated layer and the back side with a matt-coated layer. Made in Japan.
