A game with a mahjong-like feel, where you draw from the deck, discard from your hand, build up your hand, and sometimes exclaim “PON!
When you’ve completed your hand, declare ‘WIN!’ and win ‘KOBAN’! You also have a chance to get a ‘DORAYAKI’ bonus!
BABA is a family name, printed on the cards in 9 different ways. And the character OBABA, means ‘grandma’ or ‘old lady’ in Japan.
The OBABA card can be used as a wild card for any suit.
Don’t get cocky! Kanji may look the same but lookout for little differences! It’s confusing! You may look carefully but the trap is lurking.
Call “PON” on a wrong card… O-kay… that bungle will cost you! (Ha!)
Collecting the same kanji cards as kanji on the “Dorayaki” chip makes a better hand. Play your “Dorayaki” with gusto, complete the hand for doubly delicious bonus points! A play on words of “dora” in Mahjong.
Take the WIN! and get “Koban” (koban is an old Japanese coin). Depending on the strength of your hand, the Koban pile up, they jingle jangle, and the laughter may never end! (KOBAN are made of gold-color paper)
Fun for the first timer with “Beginners Rules” and “Expert Rules” for the serious Mahjong fan. Printed English instructions included.
The kanji on the cards are similar and slightly different. Even Japanese people can easily mistake them! If you exclaim “PON!” or “WIN!” with the wrong card, you’ll be penalized!
The “Expert Rules” add more mahjong-like rules. You can enjoy making a variety of Yaku and aim for a high score.
